Our Board of Directors
Bob Leonard, Chairman
Mr. Leonard is a founding member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Leonard is a General Contractor who operates a large Construction Company in Stockton, California. As an employer, Mr. Leonard is passionate about preparing the future workforce for success in all areas. Mr. Leonard currently volunteers his time as a Board Member for several community-minded service organizations, including both the Rotary and the Boys & Girls Club of Stockton.
Dr. Frank Wittwer, Vice Chairman
Dr. Wittwer is a Professor Emeritus from the University of West Florida. During his career, Dr. Wittwer worked as a tenured professor in the University’s Teacher Education program and takes great pride in the positive impact his students have had on students. Dr. Wittwer currently serves in an advisory capacity for a number of Charter Schools around the country.
Cindi Herrera, Secretary/Treasurer
Ms. Herrera previously served as Executive Director of Cornerstone Academy in Fresno, California. Ms. Herrera has a Master’s Degree from Florida State University in Emotionally Handicapped/Learning Disabled. Since 1996, Ms. Herrera has been involved in the development and operations of several charter schools and has actively supported them in many areas of administration. Through this participation, she has gained extensive experience in all aspects of charter school operations, including the ancillary programs necessary for a charter school to function successfully, and understands the many demands of operating such a unique program.
Mortimer Jones, Board Member
Mr. Jones is currently the Executive Director of the South Los Angeles Salvation Army Youth Service Center and oversees numerous programs that support children from low-income neighborhoods. Mr. Jones joined our board after Cornerstone leased one of the Salvation Army facilities to operate its school in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Terrie Myles, Board Member
Terrie Myles is the parent of two daughters, one who currently attends Cornerstone and one a recent graduate. She has worked for the City of Los Angeles for 23 years and is currently the supervisor of the Central Records Department of the Bureau of Engineering. Terrie is also involved with the Youth Department of her church where she serves as the Assistant Youth Director. As an active volunteer at Cornerstone, she assisted with the preliminary planning of the School Site Council. Terrie is very passionate about meeting the educational needs of children and as a Board Member she strives to enhance the learning experiences for all students at Cornerstone.
